LUNA BAR TRIATHLON - DAY OF RACE INFORMATION

1/2 mile swim * 16 mile road bike * 3 mile run

Entry fees:

Individuals: $70 until race day, $80 on race day

Relay Teams: $90 until race day, $110 on race day

 
Divisions:

There will be 5-year age groups beginning with 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, etc. and ending with 70+

There will be an Athena (women over 150 lbs) Division. Dr. Kevin Tanner and Almond Orchard Dental Care presents the Athena division for all of the TBF Racing Triathlons this year. Contact Dr. Tanner at (916) 966-1473 for a great smile.

 
Relay: Entry Fee: $90 until race day, $110 on race day

Relay Team divisions are Female, with a relay team consisting of two or three athletes. Relay Teams consist of a swimmer, biker, and runner. The first tag will take place in the RELAY BOX in the transition area. The biker must have his bike racked in the Relay Section and be standing in the RELAY BOX. There will also be a tag-option at the swim exit. You may use your runner to tag the swimmer at the swim exit and then run up and tag the biker in the RELAY BOX. The biker must re-rack their bike in the original location and then tag the runner in the RELAY BOX.
 
Raffle:

A feature of each TBF Racing event this year will be the addition of a big RAFFLE PRIZE give-away during the awards ceremony of each race. The prize list include goodies from: Clif Bar, Zoot Sports, AquaSphere, Fleet Feet Sports, Total Body Fitness, Xterra wetsuits, Bicycles Plus, Spin City with more to come soon...

 
 
Awards:

There will be a first place overall award for the top female individual. Awards will be given to the top five athletes in each division. Relay Teams awards will be for the top three in each division.

 
Course Description and Map:
Half Mile Swim: The 1/2 mile swim will be marked with large orange buoys, easy to see in the lake while swimming, and be patrolled by lifeguards in kayaks. The water temperature will be in mid 70's.
Sixteen Mile Bike: The bike course is an out-and-back course from Rancho Seco Park on Twin Cities Road. The course will be patrolled by CHP and will allow passing.
Three Mile Run: The run course exits from the transition area and runs around part of the lake on dirt trails. There will be three aid stations on the run course.

Transition Area Access: The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Athletes may choose their transition spot from any of the non-reserved racks - reserved racks will be marked for Tri Clubs. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.
 
Bodymarking: Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf.
 
Rules and Regulations:


Swim Course - The wave start times and the age groups in each wave will be posted at Registration and the start area on Sunday morning.

Bike Course - ALL athletes MUST wear a helmet the entire time while riding their bikes. Failure to have your helmet on, or buckled at any time on the bike will result in DISQUALIFICATION. This includes while riding your bike in or out of the transition area.

Run Course - Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Exercise caution when running off of the trails, as there may be Poison Oak.

General rules - Numbers must be placed on your bike and worn on the run. Drafting is not allowed on the bike course. Riding your bike will NOT be allowed in the transition area. No glass will be allowed in the transition area.

Use of headphones or other listening devices during ALL portions of the race ARE NOT ALLOWED.

Safety is our and your first concern, be aware of all traffic and cyclists while riding. Upon re-entering the park proceed to the transition area. There will be DISMOUNT line where all cyclists must dismount their bike before entering the transition area. Please re-rack your bicycle in the SAME spot and proceed on to the run.

ALL athletes are required to wear an ANSI approved bicycle helmet during the entire bike course. Athletes will NOT be allowed to proceed on the bike course without a helmet. The helmet must be securely fastened the entire time you are on your bike. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

 
Finish Line: After crossing the finish line please take a cold water or Clif Shot Recovery Drink and Vitamin Water and continue walking to allow your body to cool down. You should remain active for 10 to 15 minutes while you are drinking and re-fueling your body. If you need medical attention or are feeling unwell please proceed to the TBF Medical Tent or notify a TBF Volunteer that you need medical attention.

Saturday:
We will have packet pick up from 1 to 4 pm at the race site on Saturday for the Luna Bar All Women's Triathlon and there will be TBF Triathlon Coaches Talk in the Transition area at 2 pm that will last approximately 60 minutes and then convene for questions.

Sunday: TBF Training 2007 Learn To Tri Classes for Women Only starting in May 2007!

TBF Nutrition : Clif Bars are provided in all athlete goody bags. Clif Shot Electrolyte Drink and water are available in transition and on the run courses. Clif Shot Energy Gels are available on the run courses. Clif Shot Recovery Drink and Vitamin Water are available at the finish line. Red Bull Energy Drink is available at all TBF Racing events.


Packet Pick-up:

Race packets will be available from 6:30 am to 8:45 am on race morning at the race site.
