Q & A With Mariah Hanson

Q - What is your long term vision for what you do?

A - My long term vision is reaching fruition! 17 years ago I dreamed of an international Dinah, a weekend which set the standard for entertainment, attendance, customer service and eye catching visuals at our events. I have also worked to create a weekend that transcends our differences and at least for one weekend allowed us to celebrate our lives together in a most lively and joyful of ways.

Q - What do you want most to happen as the impact of your work?

A - If my weekend can get us a little closer to the civil rights we deserve by attracting corporate sponsors who experience us as a viable market and then begin to reflect that in their mainstream advertising, by bringing together the most diverse aspects of our community and help us through celebration to learn to be a greater than our differences, by offering a weekend that reflects the level of quality we deserve so we can leave knowing we deserved it in all we experience, then I am not just happy, I am humbled and in awe.

Q - What is the # 1 piece of advice you would give any woman wanting to be successful in business?

A - Go out on a limb and just do it.

Q - What brings you the most joy personally or professionally?

A - Knowing that I am making a difference even in the smallest of ways. I am from an activist Mother and so nothing I do is without thought to a greater vision.

Q - What is one thing that would surprise people about you?

A - I'm shy, lol. But very good at faking it.
