SEXY FASHION FOR THE FALL- FROM ARCHIVES : 09 18 06
CURRENT

There is nothing sexier than a woman who knows how to dress up a sweater with the perfect pair of boots and the right fitting jeans. Whether you are the cardigan or off-the- shoulder-sweater type of woman, be sure to pump up your style by accessorizing this fall.
Picking up an extra scarf, necklace and jacket here and there can make your wardrobe seem endless.

Having had the pleasure to attend Gen Art's 3rd annual "Fresh Faces in Fashion" fashion show Saturday night in San Francisco, I do have some fabulous recommendations. This season is a plaid world according to the up-and-coming fashion designers. When I think of plaid, I envision my 10-year-old niece getting ready for school in front of the mirror, complaining that her Catholic uniform isn't really her style. I had to break the news to her that not all Catholic schools take style and color into consideration when designing their infamous plaid skirts.

After close examination, we decided that plaid is not the issue, it is the color. But as we discovered with the right pair of boots – yes, she broke tradition and wore a pair of boots to school – and accessories, plaid can be cool!

Make sure that the colors and prints go together and accessorize with colors that are in the pattern that you are wearing, and by all means stay away from the fabulous '80s styles that are making a comeback for fall 2006. I was never fond of leggings and off the shoulder sweaters. As far as I am concerned no one, except Jennifer Beals, can pull off an off the shoulder sweater. Remember Flashdance?

Beware, not all body types can wear all patterns. Be sure to reference previous articles on how to shop for your body type.

THE PERFECT SWEATER, JACKET & NECKLACE COMBO

If you are like me and love to mix it up with jackets, you must check out Jill Giordano and Brian Scheyer designers from Sausalito, Calif. Their line gr.dano is a fusion of two design school disciplines: Fashion design and graphic design. Jill is an instructor at the Academy of Art University of San Francisco, her alma mater. She teaches fashion design, sewing and pattern making for the fashion undergraduate program. Brian, a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, GA, is currently an art director for an advertising agency in San Francisco.
